The aroma of home cooking
The comments in Mladina magazine were especially satisfying. Vilma’s recipes have a lighter touch, based on seasonally selected ingredients and take into account the condition of each individual diner. Food from the farm is served to suit the palates of the most demanding gourmets. It is not possible to mention everything here, however, to whet your appetite, we might like to suggest you try home-made crackling, wholemeal, fruit or rye bread, home-made cottage cheese, yoghurt or various other dairy products, ham, home-made salamis, dripping and pâté, herb spreads, various home-made conserves, beef or seasonal soups, ham in Pohorje wrap, black pudding, beef in horseradish sauce, pork ribs with dried plums or with sausage-stuffed pork medallion, baked lamb or lamb in sauce, strudels or pies. Following our grandmothers’ recipes, housewife Vilma makes potica baked in a wood oven, cottage cheese rolls in soup and čveček soup. She can also manage any vegetarian or dietary requirements. Farmer Tone is a vineyard keeper, and thus the Topolšek family offer top-quality wines from their own cellar. These include semi-dry white and blue Frankinja (Gamay) from the barrel, and bottled rose, renski rizling (Rhine Riesling), sauvignon, white pinot and iced laški Riesling. Your table will also be replete with excellent home-made apple or elder juice.
Your starter as an aperitif or after your meal as a digestive may include home-made pear brandy or healing spring flower blossoms.
